Virtual Test Information
Overview
A Virtual Test allows judges to view a video recording of the skater taking the test. Judges based anywhere in the United States can judge a test without the expense of traveling to the rink during the test session. The skater will need someone to record a video of them taking their test. This can be done by our skating director on a freestyle session. If you prefer to record your own video see information on Video Recording Requirements. When the skater and coach are satisfied with the video it is submitted to judges for viewing. Test results should be available within 5-7 days of video submission. The Club Test Chair will notify the skater of the results.
Fees Virtual Test:
Ice Time: If being recorded during a Freestyle Session, the skater will pay the fee to be on the Freestyle session. There should be fewer than 8 skaters on a Freestyle Session when you are being recorded, so select a session that is typically not very busy, such as weekday mornings from 7:00-8:30 am or early Sat morning or Friday mornings at Oceanside from 7:30-8:00 am. Sometimes it’s possible to come in 30 minutes before a freestyle session starts, so discuss those options with Skating Director Tim Totter.
Coach Fee: If you would like your coach to attend the virtual test recording session, please ask your coach if they charge a fee.
Test Fees:
$95 for an AFSC Member taking a test requiring one virtual judge
$130 for an AFSC Member taking a test requiring three virtual judges
Additional $25 fee for a USFS Club member from another club
Note: These test fees only apply to virtual tests that are not taken during an in-person test session. The test fee includes the USFS Test Registration fees, award patch, videographer fee, proctor fee and payment to the virtual judges. Virtual tests held during an in-person test session are the same price as in-person tests.
